Arrival and orientation

When you arrive in Cairns, your homestay family or share house manager will welcome you at the ‘Arrivals’ entryway of the Cairns International Airport and transport you to your accommodation.

Your first day at Cairns Language Centre

On your first morning, check-in at the Student Reception of the International Student Centre at 8:15am where one of our administration officers will welcome you.

Throughout the day you will:

  • Meet other students and some staff members.
  • Complete an English Level Assessment to find out which class level will be most suitable for you.
  • Attend an introductory tour of the Campus and the inner city. Your guide will highlight important places such as the Post Office and Medical Centre.
  • Receive essential information about living in Cairns such as the use of international telephones, public transport, and emergency services.

International Student Centre

You are encouraged to visit the International Student Centre throughout your time at CLC if you require information or support.

We serve all incoming and current international students at CLC. We assist you to maintain your legal visa status in Australia, provide support for your dependants, and promote integration with the CLC community.
